Dig Deeper: The new fashions of the 1900s required new underwear. What was it?

Shorter dresses and sleeveless tops could not be worn over the long pantaloons and corsets of the previous century. The first bra was patented in 1914 by an American, but it probably wasn’t the first one invented. Designers had developed bodices and shortened corsets that could be worn under their new dress designs.
