Dig Deeper: How are there five men from Tennessee who became a president?
Andrew Jackson, James K. Polk, and Andrew Johnson were presidents of the United States. The other two served as presidents of other countries. Sam Houston was president of the Texas Republic before it became a state, and William Walker from Nashville became the self-proclaimed president of Nicaragua for a year.
