Civil War and Reconstruction

Chuck-a-luck

A dice game.  The board or a piece of cloth would be divided into numbered squares, one through six.  The players would select their number by placing money on the squares.  The dealer would roll three dice.  If your number came up, you won and you got your money back.  If your number came up twice, you won two times what you wagered; if your number came up three times, you won three times your wager.  The odds, however, were in the dealer’s favor, because he got all the money bet that did not come up on the dice.
