The Great Depression & WW II

What is a bank run?

This is when many people with accounts in a bank demanded to withdraw all their money at once.  This caused big problems for banks that usually had some of this money invested in loans or other things and not immediately available for withdrawal.  When people heard that others were taking their money out of a bank, then they want to withdraw their funds also.  Eventually the bank would run out of money and have to close.
